Frequently Asked Questions

What is a medium?

A medium is a person who is sensitive to the vibrations of the Spirit world in some manner. Mediums often communicate messages from people in the Spirit world to us here on the Earth plane. The medium is in tune with people in the Spirit world who want to communicate and they speak through the medium to the person getting the message. The medium is the message bearer.

Do Mediums believe in God?

YES! Absolutely. Mediums encourage you to define God in your own personal way. Mediums do not dictate that God be a person on a throne or even a person at all. Your definition of God is personally yours, and Mediums recognize that.

Are Mediums Christians?

Some are, Janet is a Christian. But there are others who have different beliefs. This does not make one better than another it is entirely up to you who you would prefer to relate with.

What is a message and a reading?

A message is exactly that - a message. If you get a message from someone, it is a quick communication, as opposed to a lengthy conversation. In the same way, a medium will bring you a message from someone in the Spirit world, which usually lasts a few minutes. A reading is the same thing but longer, about 30 to 60 minutes. The content of a message or a reading is really between the people in the Spirit world and yourself - the medium is the message bearer and provides the avenue for the message to come through.

How do I develop mediumship?

The best way to develop mediumship is to study and take classes. There is no single "right way" to develop mediumship, and it is not as simple as "one, two, three - now I'm a medium and can give messages and readings". Developing mediumship is a personal spiritual endeavour. Your mediumship is an expression of your spirituality. The path you are on to develop mediumship is uniquely yours, which is wonderful. Even though your path is unique, you can share with others and also learn from them. In workshops, you often learn as much (if not more) from your fellow students as from the teacher.

What about the Tarot cards, Astrology and Psychometry?

Tarot cards (are a focal point for psychic ability but have nothing to do with the Spirit World), or Astrology ( an ancient science dealing with peoples character and life patterns) are valid methods for doing a 'reading' but are not methods of mediumship, they are using psychic energy in the case of Tarot Cards, and science in the case of Astrology. Psychometry is a reading done using psychic energy by holding an object in the hand and 'reading' the vibrations which emanate from the person to whom it belongs.

My belief is that nearly anything can be used as a method of mediumship if used in a sincere and honest way. This would explain why some people use Tarot cards, Astrology, etc. I think that a medium can use the method that works for them, whatever that method may be. That being said no decent medium will need props to use their ability, but at times may need something to help 'kick start' the link.

Can I predict the winning lotto numbers?

No. Wish I could.

Some background on the Medium.

Janet first became aware of Spirit when she was a child, and taken to Eltham Spiritualist Church, England to be helped to understand what was happening. Around the same time she was introduced to Harry Edwards, a well-known British Spiritual Healer who told her that she would later be involved in spiritual healing.

Over the years she has trained with teachers from the England to become a fully trained Spiritual Healer, as well as attending Arthur Findlay College to continue her learning about Mediumship. Janet has worked with mediums Glynn Edwards and Tony Stockwell, Eamonn Downey, Eileen Davies and more in England as well as Janet Searle and Monica Hamer here in Australia.

It wasn’t until around the late 1970’s that Janet started to work with Spirit due to the demands of a young family. At this time she first became involved with the Canberra Spiritualist Association, and was regularly performing Spiritual healing.

From 1990 Janet has been able to devote more time to her own spiritual development. Having sought and gained guidance from Spirit, she has established a strong and powerful connection with them. Her paternal and maternal aunts were both spiritual healers, who encouraged her in her work.
